JS Akhil – Social Worker, Politician, and National Coordinator of Indian Youth Congress

JS Akhil is a passionate social worker, youth leader, and politician who has held several key positions in the Indian National Congress. Known for his dedication to public service, JS Akhil has led impactful agitations and initiatives that improved the lives of students and citizens across Kerala. He currently serves as the National Coordinator of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC).

Early Political Journey of JS Akhil

The political journey of JS Akhil began in 2007 when he was elected as the KSU Unit President of St. John’s Model Higher Secondary School, Thiruvananthapuram. During this time, he also served as the Unit and Ward President of the Youth Congress, Njandoorkonam Unit.

In 2010, JS Akhil became an Executive Member of the KSU Thiruvananthapuram District Committee. By 2013, he had earned a historic victory as a Kerala University Senate Member with the highest vote share of 19 votes. In the same year, he was elected as the State General Secretary of the Kerala Students Union (KSU). Later, he broke his own record by winning the Kerala University Senate again with 24 votes and was also elected as a Kerala University Syndicate Member.

One of JS Akhil’s notable contributions was the institution of the G. Karthikeyan Memorial Award, recognizing the best college union under Kerala University. As a Syndicate Member, he actively championed student welfare by filing complaints, leading agitations, and ensuring accountability.

Rise in NSUI and Youth Congress

JS Akhil expanded his influence at the national level when he served as the PNOB of NSUI in Tamil Nadu, successfully conducting a large induction campaign inaugurated by the then National President. His work received recognition at the NSUI National Camp in Chhattisgarh, where he was honored with a memento.

He was elected as a National Delegate of NSUI with a record-breaking 3,109 votes, later taking charge of JNU and Delhi University elections. In 2019, the AICC nominated JS Akhil as a member of the Election Coordination Committee of KPCC. As part of this role, he attended the 84th AICC Plenary Session in Delhi. In 2021, he was elected as the National Coordinator of the Indian Youth Congress.

Social, Cultural, and Academic Contributions

Beyond politics, JS Akhil is deeply engaged in social and cultural work. He currently serves as the Chairman of Karuthal Kazhakoottam Charitable Society, the Secretary of Nehru Centre Kerala, and an Executive Committee Member of Sammohanam Cultural Organization, Kerala.

JS Akhil also completed the Parliamentary Practice and Procedure Course conducted by the Kerala Legislative Assembly with First Class distinction. A gifted writer, he has contributed insightful articles to various journals and magazines, further amplifying his voice as a thought leader.
